The Crypt Key is reported inside the ruined building at Desolate Peak in western Fainweald, resting on a wooden table. Its matching door is the tower in eastern Fainweald, north of the Grisha Hunting Grounds and south of the Stones of Remembrance; opening it leads into the Hall of Echoes.
Do this first
- Reach the Citadel of Penance side of western Fainweald.
- Continue toward Desolate Peak and cross the suspension bridge.
- Enter the ruined building and take the key from the wooden table.
- Travel to eastern Fainweald, north of Grisha Hunting Grounds.
- Climb to the tower doors and use the Crypt Key to enter Hall of Echoes.
Key and door are far apart
The route deliberately separates the pickup in the west from the locked tower in the east. Finding a locked structure near Desolate Peak does not mean it is the correct Crypt Key door.
Hall of Echoes begins below the tower
After the doors open, descend into the dungeon and expect a pressure-plate interaction rather than an immediate reward. Treat reward lists as patch-sensitive and verify them in your current build.
If the prompt does not accept the key
Check that the inventory item is Crypt Key, not Chapel Key or a Blackmarrow Key. Then confirm you are at the eastern tower between the two named regional landmarks.
