Quick answer

After installing the Week 1 Update, obtain Mether's Severance from Merrick and give it to Zhirelle, the Shell Keeper. She severs your bond with the active Shell, resets that Shell and returns all Glimpses spent on it. The official notes say Merrick restocks the item occasionally as you progress, but they do not publish an exact price, timer or guaranteed boss trigger.

Required buildWeek 1 Update

The respec item was added in the first major update; verify the installed build before looking for it.

RefundAll spent Glimpses

The official notes state that resetting the selected Shell grants back the Glimpses invested in it.

RestockProgress-dependent

Merrick can sell Mether's Severance and restocks it occasionally as the game progresses; no fixed schedule is published.

GenessaPlayer-reported limitation

Current reports say the Zhirelle interaction may be unavailable while Genessa is active; this is not confirmed as a permanent design rule.

Do this first

  1. Install the Week 1 Update and confirm the build string in the pause menu.
  2. Visit Merrick in Marrow Keep and check his current stock for Mether's Severance.
  3. Equip or bond with the Shell you intend to reset before approaching Zhirelle.
  4. Give Mether's Severance to Zhirelle and read the confirmation prompt carefully.
  5. Confirm the Glimpse refund before spending it on another Shell.
  6. If Merrick is sold out, continue normal progression and recheck later rather than relying on an invented timer.
01

What the respec actually resets

The official Week 1 notes describe Mether's Severance as a Shell-respec item. Zhirelle severs the bond with one Shell, resets it and grants back all Glimpses spent on that Shell. This is different from changing selectable Shell Points inside an existing bond, and it does not claim to refund unrelated weapon, Harbinger or Tarstone investments.

02

Where Mether's Severance comes from

Merrick is the only seller named in the official update. His stock expands as the updated economy opens and the item can restock occasionally with progression. Because the official note does not state a price or fixed trigger, this guide avoids repeating an exact shop cycle as universal fact.

03

A safe reset checklist

Record the current Shell, bond level and Glimpse total before confirming. After the reset, verify the refunded total before buying another bond. If the prompt names a different Shell than the one you intended, cancel and correct the active bond first.

  • Confirm the Week 1 build
  • Confirm the active Shell
  • Read the named confirmation prompt
  • Record the Glimpse total before and after
  • Do not assume weapon or Tarstone materials are included
04

Genessa does not currently follow the clean path

Fresh Steam and Reddit reports say players cannot present Mether's Severance through Zhirelle while using Genessa because her Shell Keeper interaction differs. That is symptom evidence, not an official permanent restriction. Preserve the item, report the build and interaction state, and check later patch notes rather than testing destructive workarounds.

05

If Merrick has no stock

First confirm that the platform has received the Week 1 Update. If the item is still absent, continue ordinary campaign progression and revisit Merrick. The official language says 'occasionally' and does not promise an immediate restock after one named boss, reload or beacon reset.
